Tax Director and Tax Manager for Real Estate
1.Tax Director for Big 4 ( Total comp around 200k)
Our client, a high profile “partnered owned CPA firm” seeking a Tax Director to work with our Real Estate Tax Practice.
You'll work on a variety of high-profile Real Estate projects that help the company clients achieve their business goals and give you the experience and skills you need to progress in your career. As part of the team, the Tax Director will be responsible for:
* Responsible for managing tax assignments and related projects.
* Assignments include planning and coordinating the flow of information with the client, preparing complex tax returns, supervising staff, reviewing work papers and tax returns, reviewing tax provisions on audit and review engagements, researching and resolving technical issues, and participating in the billing and collection process.
* Playing a significant role in the professional development of staff members.
* Developing specialized knowledge as a Firm expert on one or more tax subjects or industries; e.g., partnerships, real estate, etc.
* Recognizing opportunities for providing additional services to clients. Marketing technical specialty or expertise to clients.
* Performs tax planning and research, and resolves complex tax issues. Gives recommendations to clients.
* Conducts internal training courses or seminars on specialties.
* Maintaining regular contact with assigned clients. Develops a good relationship through personal attention, timeliness of service, and good money saving advice.
To be considered, candidates should have:
* CPA designation.
* BA degree in Accounting.
* Must have 8+ years experience in public or combination public/private.
* Successful candidates will possess: ability to plan client engagements, provide tax consulting services, supervise and review work of team staff members, work closely with clients as well as internal managers and partners.
* Possesses in-depth and current knowledge of tax laws and regulations.
* Experience with real estate clients.

2. Tax Compliance Manager for REIT
Department: Accounting - Tax
Base 160k – 170k plus bonus, 401k match, profit sharing, FT Benefits package.
Manager will facilitate the reporting requirements and daily internal and external request as outlined by the Tax Compliance Director.
Initiate and monitor the completion of the actual and projected reporting packages.
Communication and review of workflow to the Tax Compliance Director to ensure timely deliverables.
Understand the reporting requirements of the portfolio, address compliance issues in accordance with federal, state, and local jurisdictions, communicate tax positions or resolutions to the Tax Compliance Director.
Communicate, respond, and assist the accounting department with all aspects of the portfolio from a tax perspective.
Review the tax treatment and accounting of various real estate acquisitions, dispositions, recapitalization, and lease transactions.
Monitor and maintain timeliness of projected tax based reporting packages by financial department.
Review income tax projections prepared by external advisors.
Review year end reporting packages prepared by financial department.
Review federal, state, and local income tax returns [partnership, REIT, corporate] prepared by external advisors on a portfolio wide basis. Prepare/Review in house federal, state, and local income tax returns [partnership, corporate].
Prepare/Review estimated tax payments, sales and use tax returns, commercial rent tax returns, etc.
Provide the financial department adequate assistance with the proper depreciation methods required for federal, state and local tax purposes.
Assist the financial department on the proper use of the fixed asset depreciation software
Coordinate and assist the Tax Compliance Director when advising the financial department with relevant technical concepts and changes in law.
Prepare/Review foreign and state withholding requirements as well as 1099’s on a portfolio wide basis.
Assist the Tax Compliance Director with issues raised and specific requests from significant investors.
Prepare responses to federal, state, and local notices.
Compile, maintain and organize investor information.

Technical Skills:
Strong technical background in partnership and real estate taxation.
Big Four Experience is a plus.
At least one full year as Manager; min of five years of total experience.
Familiar with REIT compliance.
Exposure to international taxation and reporting requirements preferred.
