VP of Capital Development

Our client, an investment management firm that specializes in real estate, is seeking a capital raiser to join its U.S. team.

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual who posses the ability to convert prospects into investors. Due to the nature of our client's business, work schedules vary based on current initiatives and the environment is often fast-paced and intense.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Act as a primary point of contact for domestic institutional investors and prospects located in the United States.
Implement a calling program that is focused on identifying and converting existing prospects into investors, including:
Researching and generating additional prospects (e.g., newspapers, directories, newsletters, referrals, conference attendees, yellow pages, europages, Google, investment/alternative investment publications, and all other contact outlets),
Effectively describing our client's history, strategy and the investment opportunity,
Responding to questions from investors and prospects, and
Managing relationships with a focus on ‘closing the deal’.
Provide feedback to management as to the efficacy and status of the calling program, as well as market observations.
Significant travel and phone work will be required of this position.


Skills:
Minimum 10 years of business experience, preferably in the financial service industry and specifically with a focus on business and corporate development and marketing.
Minimum 2 years of alternative investments experience.
Minimum 2 years of capital raising experience with demonstrable prior experience in sourcing new prospects and converting prospects into investors.
Candidates with advanced degrees (e.g., MBAs) and/or industry affiliations (e.g., CFA, CAIA) are preferable.
Ability to manage multiple processes and deal with complexities
Ability to work independently
Rigorous and open minded
Ability to drive projects to completion
Very strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to gather and analyze market intelligence and effectively utilize that knowledge to modify and improve the calling program.
Strong work ethic
Professional and positive attitude

The VP, Capital Development reports to one of the firm’s principals.
