Director of Finance

Our client is looking for an experienced Director of Finance to oversee their franchised restaurants in the NY metro area.

Location: NY
Outstanding Benefits Package Available
Salary is DOE.
Salary Range is up to $170k p/ year.

Job Summary:

Develop to succeed Chief Financial Officer who manages, leads, creates vision, establishes strategies, sets objectives and expectations by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate employees. Facilitates cooperation and improves communications between employees and departments.

Essential duties and responsibilities include assisting the CFO with the following. Other duties may be assigned as determined by the CFO.

• Financial reports to management, lenders and Franchisors;
• Management reports (interpreting financial reports);
• Record transactions (Controller responsibility);
• Manage cash (cash flow);
• Cultivate new financing options (new sources);
• Monitor gift card sales and redemptions (Controller responsibility);
• Interface with lenders, outside accounting firm, bank, armored car company and credit card processing firm (Controller is primary contact for all but lenders);
• Interact with the Executive Director of Human Relations/Training, the Chief Operating Officer, Restaurant Area Directors and Managers, the Chairman and the President;
• Bonus programs, cost management, leases, financing, budgets (Controller coordinates such), risk management, analysis of estimated cash flow and special projects;
• Monitor insurance claims with adjusters and attorneys;
• Maintain internal accounting controls and proper reporting.

Supervisory responsibilities:

Legal/insurance claim assistant
(the Assistant Controller, payroll clerks, Accounts Payable Supervisor and operations analysts report to the Controller).
Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of such.
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include understanding information technology related to financial information requirements; training; monitoring performance appraisals; rewarding and disciplining employee; and resolving problems.


Job Requirements:

Bachelor degree from a four year college or university
Three or more years public accounting (preferably with a Big Four firm and, preferably, a CPA)
Restaurant industry experience a plus, not required.
Financial expertise, personal integrity, strategic vision and communication skills
Appetite for accomplishment and results
Must be computer literate

Skills:
Ability to review, analyze and interpret general business periodicals,
professional journals, technical procedures and government regulations.
Ability to produce reports, business correspondence and procedural manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers.
Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

This position reports to Chief Financial Officer.
